3dEYE offers a wide range of connection options and supports thousands of camera models currently on the market.
Push Module Connection
- We offer 3dEYE's Push Module which is a plug-and-play camera integration for some manufacturers which is designed to be easy to install and use while providing powerful analytics capabilities.
Simple Plug&Play setup where customers only need to plug a camera into a router and it makes the cloud migration or roll out a breeze for new and existing installations.
This is the most secure and reliable connection method as there are no intermediate servers or need to expose the camera to the internet over port forwarding. Camera access can be temporarily available for authorized IT personnel over the encrypted tunnels for maintenance and troubleshooting.

- The configuration is simple with a plug-and-play setup, making it easy to migrate or roll out new installations.

Cons:
- The PUSH module is an add-on to existing camera firmware and may not be available for all camera models but the camera models compatibility list is constantly increasing.

ONVIF and RTSP connection
- Cameras that support ONVIF can be added using the ONVIF protocol, and most other cameras that have RTSP video streams can be added using RTSP stream access.
1. Any ONVIF-compliant device (camera or NVR) can be added using the ONVIF option. There are 2 ways to add ONVIF cameras.
- URL method: To add a device using the ONVIF option you will need to set up port forwarding for the HTTP and RTSP ports of the device. For more information on how to add a camera using a URL method please visit this page.
- Registration code Method: If the Camera is Push enabled or connected to a Gateway then a copy of the camera can be added using the Registration code Method. For more information on how to add a camera using the Registration code method, please visit this page.
2. There are 2 methods to add a Camera using Generic method. The first is using the URL method where the Port Forwarding has to be configured, the second method is using the Registration code from the camera if 3dEYE's push firmware is installed or the camera is on a Gateway. Pros:
- Any IP device with RTSP or RTMP stream capable of H.264 can be connected
Cons:
- Requires port forwarding to be configured unless the registration code method is used
- Relies on cameras security features, with no additional protection for the local network or device itself unless the registration code method is used
- Requires a technician with a good understanding of how the network works to complete the setup unless our gateway is used
Gateway Connection
- 3dEYE also provides an external Gateway device solution to connect all the cameras on your network using a secure tunnel. It is the easiest, fastest, most convenient, and safest way to connect any existing camera to the cloud. The Gateway allows a customer to bypass port forwarding to connect their cameras to the cloud through an encrypted secure tunnel ensuring maximum safety of the data and ease of integration. Also, if ISP changes your IP or randomly assigns your IP then, in that case, the Gateway will automatically connect with the Cloud and the User doesn't have to update the IP on the system every time.
Pros:
- An easy, fast, and convenient way to connect any existing camera to the cloud.
- Provides a secure and encrypted tunnel to bypass port forwarding and ensure maximum safety of data.
- Automatically connects to the cloud in case the ISP changes the IP or randomly assigns a new IP.
- Technical setup personnel can complete the installation within 15-20 minutes from the moment they arrive on site or even ship the gateway to your client for self-installation, no special technical knowledge is needed.
- Pre-installed software and ready to start discovering cameras just 2 minutes after being powered on.
- Cameras are discovered automatically and added to the gateway with a single mouse click.
- Provides a unique registration code for every camera that was added.
- Can be registered in the admin portal as a camera using its own registration code and then be configured remotely.
- Uses the ONVIF protocol to discover cameras. If the camera is not ONVIF compliant, it can be added manually to the Gateway.
